This Memorial Day weekend, there’s much to choose from; use these activities and events to help you remember those who lost their lives in service to our county.

Celebrating its ninth year, the Santee Street Fair and Craft Beer Festival will host its fourth annual beer festival featuring local breweries. Military will be honored this year with the Heroes Stage. New to this year’s event will be a special program to recognize children with parents currently serving in the armed forces. Festival highlights include a craft beer festival, live music and entertainment, more than 300 food and craft vendor booths, carnival rides–including a rock climbing wall–and games for the family.

Oasis Camel Dairy’s Open Farm and Show

Legacy Week 2017 at the USS Midway Museum

14th Annual Lebanese Food Festival

Fiesta Del Sol 2017

The 38th Annual Fiesta del Sol will be on May 20- 21, 2017 from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. each day. The Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce has been hosting this FREE two day arts & music festival for 37 years as a kick off to Summer in Solana Beach! The event takes place at Fletcher Cove.

The Belly Up is lining up a great list of musicians to perform over the two day event, which includes local community talent. There will also be a large, fun and exciting Children’s Area set up for families to enjoy rides, games and a climbing wall.

Tierrafest Parade and Craft Fair

Come and visit our all-day Craft Fair (9am to 3pm), offering lots of handmade items by local artisans.  The day starts with a Patriot’s Day Parade at 10am, with schools, clubs, bands, businesses and local dignitaries marching or riding, and the day ends with a barbeque dinner (4-8pm) at the Tierrasanta Rec Center together with a fireworks display at dusk.  The Craft Fair and Parade are  free, and children are welcome.  Tickets for the dinner are available at the Craft Fair.

24th Southern California Band Festival

The 24th Southern California Band Festival is being held May 20 and 21, 2017 at Old Poway Park. The festival presents 17 adult concert bands from Southern California and Arizona with a new band every hour. The festivities conclude with the Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band starting at 6:15 Sunday. Food and beverages are available. Gift baskets will be auctioned off.

It’s the last weekend for the famous Flower Fields in Carlsbad Ranch — and a perfect place to take Mom for Mother’s Day! The fields are open daily, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., through May 14. Patrons will enjoy nearly 50 acres of colorful displays of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers, which are in bloom for six to eight weeks. The famous fields also include roses, orchids, sweet pea blossoms, petunias and poinsettias.

Mission Federal ArtWalk

The 33rd annual Mission Federal ArtWalk returns to Little Italy in San Diego this weekend. Stroll over 15 blocks filled with artwork from over 350 local, national, and international artists on Saturday. The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch

The famous Flower Fields in Carlsbad Ranch officially opened for the season on March 1; the fields are open daily, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., through May 14. Patrons will enjoy nearly 50 acres of colorful displays of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers, which are in bloom for six to eight weeks. The famous fields also include roses, orchids, sweet pea blossoms, petunias and poinsettias.

This Sunday, there will also be an Easter service at 6:30am, as well as The Bayou Brothers performing 1-5pm.

San Diego’s largest health and fitness expo returns to the Del Mar Fairgrounds on both Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., respectively. The event educates attendees on everything involving health and wellness and will feature 30 expert-led lectures and workshops on topics like fitness, healthy eating, better sleep habits and how to reduce stress. In addition, there will be free medical screenings, too, and attendees will also enjoy cooking demos and tips from renowned chefs.
