The Coronado Flower Show is held annually on the third weekend of April in Spreckels Park in the center of Coronado’s Village.

The Coronado Flower Show is the largest tented flower show in the nation. Exhibits are placed inside tents surrounding a central gazebo, which becomes the stage for continuous entertainment, announcements and trophy presentations.

ISRAEL – 70 Years of Craft and Design

ISRAEL – 70 Years of Craft and Design celebrates the art and innovation of the nation’s diverse people through a rich range of objects of daily use. Over 100 objects—including Yemenite jewelry, Bedouin textiles, contemporary garments, sustainable and industrial design, adornment incorporating ancient materials, furniture and ceramics—illustrate the special fusion of European and Arab influences embodied in Israel’s modern craft and design. Coinciding with global recognition of Israel’s 70 years of statehood, this project is the Museum’s first opportunity in its 40-year history to feature the innovative work of Israel’s designers and artists.

48th Chicano Park Day Celebration

The 48th annual Chicano Park Day celebration will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM in historic Chicano Park, located in the Logan Heights community, south of downtown San Diego under the San Diego-Coronado bridge. 2018 Del Mar National Horse Show

For nearly three-quarters of a century, equestrian sports aficionados have marked their calendars each April and May for the Del Mar National Horse Show, held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in the beautiful seaside town of Del Mar, California.

Each year the Del Mar National attracts more than 1,500 horses representing many breeds across three distinctly different disciplines – Western, Dressage, and Hunter/Jumper. Spectators will see world-class performances in reining with its famous spins and sliding stops, elegant and athletic dressage moves choreographed to music, and nail-biting daredevil show jumping! Evening events feature trick riders, comedy acts, thrills and spills, and breed demonstrations, among many other exciting acts. The competition for prize money, trophies, and ribbons is fierce!

Pacific Rim Festival

The Second Annual Pacific Rim Festival is coming to Chula Vista!

In conjunction with Chula Vista Maritime Week and sponsored by the Port of San Diego, this event celebrates Pacific Rim food and lifestyle culture and will be held at the Bayside Park in Chula Vista.

This is a free community event with lots of entertainment for all ages. Bring the family to share an afternoon of food, music, and excitement!

48th Chicano Park Day

The annual celebration will be held in historic Chicano Park, located in the Logan Heights community, south of downtown San Diego under the San Diego-Coronado bridge. This year’s theme is ‘Chicano Park: El Corazón de Aztlán.’ This family event is free and open to the public.

Visitors to Chicano Park Day will experience traditional music and dance, including one of the most beautiful performances of Aztec Indigenous dance, coordinated by coordinated by Danza Azteca Calpulli Mexihca.

The event will feature performances, and in addition, there will be a display of classic lowrider cars presented by Amigos Car Club, children’s art workshop and various informational booths. Food, and arts and crafts vendors will be selling their specialties throughout Chicano Park.

Lagoon Day 2018

Come for a day of family-friendly events. On Saturday, April 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Del Mar Lagoon Committee is planning a day of fun for all ages at the Birdwing Open Air Classroom, located east of San Andres and just below Via de la Valle. At 8:30 a.m., a guide will lead interested participants on a bird walk. At 11 a.m., Sky Hunters will present live native raptors. This will be followed by three hours of events including art projects, hands-on science, and animal identification games. Admission is free and participants may drop in at any time.

Easter Egg Hunt

You’ll want to hop on over to the Children’s Nature Retreat for our Easter Egg Hunt and look for the “Special Retreat Egg.”  The big hunt begins at 10:30am on Saturday, March 31st. There will be plenty of candy-filled eggs hidden around the Retreat for even the most inexperienced egg seeker.

Along with the hunt, there will be a keeper talk with a special appearance by our big 10-pound white bunny, Easter, at 11:30AM at the picnic area.  Come hear the story of how Easter showed up at the Retreat and learn all about our soft, furry friends.

6th Annual Bankers Hill Art & Craft Beer Festival

Following last year’s sold out event, the Bankers Hill Art & Craft Beer Festival in partnership with the San Diego Brewers Guild will return for its sixth year on Friday, March 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. Taking place throughout the two levels of The Abbey on Fifth Avenue, a historic 10,000-square foot venue, this 21+ event will showcase San Diego breweries and Bankers Hill restaurants alongside pop-up galleries of local artists’ works.

This year’s festival will feature larger tasting glasses for guests who will have unlimited access to complimentary 2-ounce pours from approximately fifteen breweries

Carlsbad Flower Fields

On March 24 and 25, enjoy full days of fun at The Flower Fields with Kids’ Day. Saturday features a bounce house, woodworking with The Children’s Workshop, drumming, bubble making and more. Sunday we will have Star Kids Theater, Ballooning and face painting!

Spring is in the air and Carlsbad is in bloom at the Flower Fields, open now through May 13. Circus Vargas

Circus Vargas has been making its rounds and, this weekend, it keeps the show going at Escondido Westfield North County. The traveling show boasts thrilling performances by acrobats, daredevils, flying trapeze artists, jugglers, contortionists, comics and more. The Circus Vargas theme is “Dreaming of Pirates,” so attendees can expect some swashbuckling surprises. Take the family 30 minutes before show time and enjoy a special, free pre-show where kids can create their own magic under the big top. Tickets range from $15 to $72; kids age 2 and under get in free with a paying adult, so long as they sit on an adult’s lap. Circus Vargas will be in Escondido through this Monday before moving north to Temecula on March 8.

Spring Home & Garden Show

Get inspiration for the home improvement project of your dreams at the 33rd annual Spring Home & Garden Show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. This three-day expo will showcase some of the newest trends in home renovation while giving access to the best tools, experts, and businesses to help complete those projects. Tickets cost $9 per day. The Home & Garden Show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Sunday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

31st Annual Koi Show

Koi fish have become known as “living jewels” because of their bright orange hues and quick movements in the water that seem to make them reflect. This weekend, hundreds of the magnificent fish will be on display for a Koi pond competition at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Guests can learn how to create a water garden in their backyard to keep Koi as pets or just soak in the wonder of the fish. The event is free but parking at the fairgrounds is $14.

Encinitas Holiday Parade

For the 60th year, Encinitas will kick off the holiday season at the 2017 Encinitas Holiday Parade, presented by Lazy Acres Natural Market on Saturday, December 2.  Thousands of people will be on floats, on foot, in cars, and marching in bands while tens of thousands cheer them along the Parade route along Coast Highway 101.  The nighttime parade theme for 2017 is “Celebrating the Arts!”

Celtic Choral Celebration

The Center Chorale performs its first concert of the 2017-2018 season Friday night at the Center Theater at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. The show will focus on the tunes of Scotland and Ireland, couple with bagpipes and Highland dancing. The 50-voice ensemble will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Joseph Valent and conductor Dr. Joe Stanford, a professor emeritus from Palomar College.

San Diego Mac n’ Cheese Festival

The third annual San Diego Mac n’ Cheese Festival is here this weekend! A $35 general admission ticket gets each attendee plenty of mac n’ cheese samples, plus 10 beer tastings. Save room for the Gourmet Mac n’ Cheese competition, too.

San Diego Botanic Garden Family Fall Festival

Boulevard Boo Parade

San Diego’s only Halloween parade, the 13th annual Boulevard Boo Parade returns to El Cajon Boulevard with ghoulish floats, vintage cars, costumes, bands and spooky surprises. The free parade starts at the intersection of El Cajon and Rolando boulevards then travels west to 60th Street. Visitors can view the procession from the south side of El Cajon Boulevard. After the parade, the College Avenue Baptist Church (4747 College Ave.) will host the free AfterBOO! Carnival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring rides, games, inflatable play structures, arts and crafts vendors, food vendors and live music.

Halloween Family Day

The free 9th annual Balboa Park Halloween Family Day gives families a safe, fun, and culturally inspired way to kick off their Halloween activities.

Over two dozen participating museums and cultural attractions will present free craft projects for kids, costume parades and contests, and other spooky surprises from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Participating museums offer free admission to children 12 and under with paying adult.
