On April 28 – April 29, 2018, Mission Federal ArtWalk will transform 17 blocks of Downtown San Diego’s nationally recognized Little Italy neighborhood creating an arts and culture event visitors travel thousands of miles to experience and purchase art from over 350 local, national and international emerging and established artists at the free two-day festival.

San Diego Shaka Fest

The San Diego Shaka Fest is the Fusion of Hawaiian Culture, Arts, & Athletics! Annual MotorCars on MainStreet Car Show

Coronado MainStreet hosts an annual car show, MotorCars on MainStreet, featuring over 400 pre-73 restored classic, rod and custom cars & trucks. The event is held in downtown Coronado, one block from the beach, at Isabella & Orange Avenues, usually on the last Sunday in April from 10:00 to 3:00 PM. Co-Sponsors Ron Baker Chevrolet, the City of Coronado and the County of San Diego welcome participants and spectators to the grand gathering. There is live music featuring The Cat-illacs and drawings throughout the day.

Adams Avenue Unplugged

Adams Avenue Unplugged, a free musical walkabout, takes place April 28, 2018 along a two-mile stretch of Adams Avenue, from University Heights on the West through Normal Heights, and into parts of Kensington to the East. The event will feature live musical performances staged inside restaurants, bars, coffee houses and galleries lining the neighborhood. Being able to pair the Avenue’s unique dining and drinking establishments, each with their own special ambiances and selections, with free musical performances, makes Adams Avenue the place to be on the last weekend of April. The AABA hopes to treat musical aficionados and foodies to the rich neighborhood culture.

Chocolate Festival

The history of chocolate and how it came to our country is an interesting tale of seafaring travels.

Easter Egg Hunt

You’ll want to hop on over to the Children’s Nature Retreat for our Easter Egg Hunt and look for the “Special Retreat Egg.”  The big hunt begins at 10:30am on Saturday, March 31st. There will be plenty of candy-filled eggs hidden around the Retreat for even the most inexperienced egg seeker.

Along with the hunt, there will be a keeper talk with a special appearance by our big 10-pound white bunny, Easter, at 11:30AM at the picnic area.  Come hear the story of how Easter showed up at the Retreat and learn all about our soft, furry friends.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The Annual San Diego St. Patrick’s Day Parade (largest Parade west of the Mississippi) will step off on Saturday, March 17, at 10:30 a.m. on Fifth Avenue at Laurel Street as thousands of marchers and spectators gather to celebrate the Patron Saint of Ireland.

We have over 120 Parade entries. See floats, high school marching bands, police and fire department units, dancing groups,marching and equestrian units, clowns, dignitaries and honorees, representatives from Ireland, antique cars, Irish setters and more.

The Theme of this year’s Parade is “Celebrating Our Irish Roots”.

Storytelling Festival

Come one, come all for a storied day of the wearin’ of the green at the Storytelling Festival. Wise Fools is the theme for World Storytelling Day. During this global celebration of the art of oral storytelling, there are special children’s programs, out-of-town guests, and a culminating concert for adults.

Personal storytelling shines with Scott Whitehair of Chicago, and the Pandarvis’ stories of being professional surfers. Students from Paul Ecke Elementary will perform. Randel McGee and his dragon puppet sidekick, Groark, are a special treat for all ages.

Come get involved in workshops: Personal Storytelling; Puppetry 101 Hands On; and The Joy of Bible Storytelling. Savor it all. The Simply Fresh Gourmet Food Truck will be outside during lunch time.

Circus Vargas

Circus Vargas has been making its rounds and, this weekend, it keeps the show going at Escondido Westfield North County. The traveling show boasts thrilling performances by acrobats, daredevils, flying trapeze artists, jugglers, contortionists, comics and more. The Circus Vargas theme is “Dreaming of Pirates,” so attendees can expect some swashbuckling surprises. Take the family 30 minutes before show time and enjoy a special, free pre-show where kids can create their own magic under the big top. Tickets range from $15 to $72; kids age 2 and under get in free with a paying adult, so long as they sit on an adult’s lap. Circus Vargas will be in Escondido through this Monday before moving north to Temecula on March 8.

Spring Home & Garden Show

Get inspiration for the home improvement project of your dreams at the 33rd annual Spring Home & Garden Show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. 31st Annual Koi Show

Koi fish have become known as “living jewels” because of their bright orange hues and quick movements in the water that seem to make them reflect. This weekend, hundreds of the magnificent fish will be on display for a Koi pond competition at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Guests can learn how to create a water garden in their backyard to keep Koi as pets or just soak in the wonder of the fish. The event is free but parking at the fairgrounds is $14.

Rady Children’s Ice Rink at Liberty Station

Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary presents another holiday season of outdoor ice skating with support from SENTRE Inc., NBC 7 San Diego, ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station and many friends of Rady Children’s.

Encinitas Holiday Parade

For the 60th year, Encinitas will kick off the holiday season at the 2017 Encinitas Holiday Parade, presented by Lazy Acres Natural Market on Saturday, December 2.  Thousands of people will be on floats, on foot, in cars, and marching in bands while tens of thousands cheer them along the Parade route along Coast Highway 101.  The nighttime parade theme for 2017 is “Celebrating the Arts!”

Winter Wonderland Festival
