34th Annual Philippine Cultural Arts Festival

This community festival at the corner of Park Boulevard and Presidents Way in Balboa Park will take place both Saturday and Sunday, celebrating Filipino culture through entertainment, dance, art, and food. The event is free; local vendors will sell traditional Filipino goodies like adobo, lumpia, pancit, and Halo-Halo.

12th Annual heART of Mt. Helix

Party for a purpose against the backdrop of the setting sun at the historic Mt. Helix Park known for its 360-degree views. The heART of Mt. Helix, East County’s Premier Food, Wine, and Art Festival benefits Mt. Helix Park. The magic happens on August 10 from 5 to 10 p.m. as one of San Diego’s most spectacular outdoor venues is transformed by this one-of-a-kind festival of art, music, and samplings from some of San Diego’s best restaurants and beverage companies, while benefiting one of the county’s most unique nonprofit nature parks and outdoor amphitheaters.

Children’s Business Fair San Diego

Acton Children’s Business Fair is a great community event, where children and youth become business owners for one day. The event is free and open to the public.

Superheroes In The Sand is the theme for this year’s Festival.  The 2018 Imperial Beach Sun & Sea Festival will feature world-class sandcastle sculptors creating some of the best sand creations on the West Coast as well as a community parade and pancake breakfast, live music, children’s craft activities and a Kids ‘n Kastles competition.

Bayside Summer Nights: Rick Springfield

The San Diego Symphony’s annual summer concert series along the waterfront returns for the 2018 season. This weekend, the musician behind chart-topping hits like “Jessie’s Girl” and “Love Somebody” will rock on stage along San Diego Bay.

Grunion Run

It’s a spectacle to behold when thousands of grunion, slim silver fish, come out of the water and onto the shoreline to spawn. To see the natural event that happens only a handful of days throughout the year, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife recommends heading to a San Diego County beach with a flashlight. Runs are expected through Sunday at various times but sightings are not guaranteed. Grunion sightings may occur at: Oceanside Pier View North Beach, Oceanside Harbor Beach, Del Mar Beach, La Jolla Shores, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Coronado and Coronado Shores Beach and Imperial Beach.

Festival of the Bells

This event celebrates the founding of Mission Basilica San Diego De Alcala nearly 250 years ago. The event will feature food, games and live entertainment at the historical landmark. All five of the mission’s bells will be rung during the weekend’s activities, including the original bell dating back to 1802.

Food Truck Fridays

Food trucks will swamp Balboa Park every Friday this summer. A lineup of about a dozen food trucks will rotate each week through September 28 at Plaza de Panama ready to feed hungry guests while listening to a variety of live music. Visitors are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit in front of the Botanical Building as they eat, or enjoy craft beer, wine and cocktails inside nearby restaurants. Booths will be set up with activities for kids and Balboa Park will introduce a “living room” area filled with giant lawn games. Surrounding museums will extend hours to accommodate guests and the San Diego Museum of Art will offer $5 admission after 5 p.m.

El Cajon Dinner and a Concert

One of El Cajon’s premier events, our Dinner & a Concert Series is back again this year in the center of Downtown El Cajon. Dinner & A Concert is a weekly concert and dance hosted by Downtown El Cajon Business Partners, performed on the Prescott Promenade, which is surrounded by a variety of restaurants. Thousands of people from all over San Diego County arrive to see and listen to many of our local bands and musicians. Join us Friday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 PM for a great time and great food from our downtown restaurants.

With such a beautiful spring weekend ahead for us, it’s the perfect opportunity to get out and explore some of the great events San Diego County has to offer!

San Diego’s largest health and fitness expo returns to the Del Mar Fairgrounds on both Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., respectively. The event educates attendees on everything involving health and wellness and will feature 30 expert-led lectures and workshops on topics like fitness, healthy eating, better sleep habits and how to reduce stress. In addition, there will be free medical screenings, too, and attendees will also enjoy cooking demos and tips from renowned chefs.

63rd Annual World Championship OTL | Over the Line

“Hosted each July by the Mission Bay Athletic Club (OMBAC), the annual sporting and merrymaking event typically draws about 1,200 teams from around the world to Mission Bay to partake in OTL, a bat and ball sport first played in Mission Beach in the 1950s” (nbcsandiego.com). Over The Line is a public event and requires no ticket or entrance fee to watch the games and enjoy the tournament. This weekend is the second and last weekend of OTL.
