Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo
In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, Old Town is putting on their 35th annul free fiesta — the largest Cinco de Mayo celebration north of the border. Lively music and entertainment, auto showcase, children’s activities and area, and more.

Fiesta de Reyes Cinco de Mayo Folklorico Festival
Dancers from throughout Southern California and some from as far away as Sacramento and Las Vegas have competed for the past eight years in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park at the annual Fiesta de Reyes Folklórico Competition. This year the event, to be held over the Cinco de Mayo weekend, is expanding to include dance troupes from Mexico and throughout the Western United States.
The competition is free for the public to attend and will take place in the center of Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. Children and adult performances alternate throughout the day, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 6. Live bands will take the stage in the afternoon until 9 p.m. on Saturday and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. In addition, the state park will showcase children’s activities throughout the day.

Julian Woman’s Club Wildflower Show
A wonderful spring event, the Julian Woman’s Club hosts their 91st annual Wildflower Show in the historical Town Hall in Julian in San Diego’s East County.
Because of Julian’s mountain valley location, bordering a national forest and close to the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, there are 855 species of plants within 25 miles of town, many of which were used for health and healing by Native Americans. The Wildflower Show is meant to educate club members, local residents, out-of-town visitors and children about the botanical wealth of Julian and its vicinity.

Cinco de Mayo Trail Run
The Cinco de Mayo Trail Race & 5K offer challenging and unique courses that will take you out on the Lake Poway Trail around the lake.
There’s a 5K, 10K and a kids race.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration
Balboa Park presents one of the region’s largest free Cinco de Mayo celebrations. The family-friendly fiesta includes Mexican-themed music and dance performances, colorful horseback riders, strolling mariachis, a fashion show of traditional Mexican dress, hands-on activity booths for kids, arts and crafts vendors, food trucks, and more! The event culminates with a 5 p.m. concert in Spreckels Organ Pavilion featuring crowd-favorite Jarabe Mexicano, accompanied by the SDSU School of Music Percussion Ensemble.

24th Annual EastLake Cycle & 5K Run, and Technology & Innovation Fair
Explore majestic hills, a stunning lake and exceptional running trails along the Chula Vista Park District while participating in either the 25 Mile Road Bike Ride, the 18 Mile mountain bike ride or the 5K community run/walk.
New to the event this year is a Technology & Innovation Fair that highlights the purpose of the event, supporting technology in the schools. Attendees will be able to explore technology and stem themes. This event is a fundraiser hosted by EastLake Educational Foundation (EEF), a nonprofit organization committed to supporting technology enhancements in the EastLake public schools.
