For the entire month of January, San Diego is celebrating the 5th annual Big Bay Whale Days with discounted opportunities to experience the Big Bay and witness firsthand the annual gray whale migration along our coast. On Saturday, January 26, 2012 the event will culminate with a free Whale Festival along the Embarcadero offering a wide variety of interactive and hands on displays to spark the interest and imagination of any child including a walk-through whale, live sea creatures, face painting, art projects, an inflatable obstacle course, and a bounce house. Enjoy live music on the “Whale of a Stage” featuring returning festival favorite,” James Gibson Band” and newcomers “Moon Dog”, from Phoenix, AZ and “Velvet Cafe” from San Diego. Meet “Captain Sam Diego” and Wally the Whale plus enjoy a performance from “Flamenco with Roots” a youth dance group. Best of all, kids 12 and under will cruise free (with paid adult) on Hornblower Cruises & Events and Flagship Cruises & Events whale watching cruises. In addition, there will be chances to win free whale watching trips and much more.
