A proposed bill by the San Diego County Water Authority, if approved, would mean that California state’s HOAs would have to allow artificial turf lawns in their communities.
Currently, only a small percentage of California’s 47,000 homeowners associations permit owners in their communities to install the synthetic grass. The reason cited is that the look of artificial turf would be a detriment to property values.
However, with California facing another potential drought this year and thus needing to conserve water, artificial turf is one way owners can substantially cut back on their property’s water usage.
