This year marks the Japanese Friendship Garden of San Diego’s 13th annual Cherry Blossom Festival! During March 9, 10, and 11 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily, visitors are able to enjoy the Japanese custom of hanami – appreciating the beauty of cherry blossom flowers. Each day will be accompanied by various food vendors, cultural performances and demonstrations, and a plethora of family friendly activities!

San Diego Homebrew Festival & Competition

Treasures from San Diego’s University Libraries

This spring, Mingei International Museum will shine a spotlight on the lesser-known libraries of UC San Diego, San Diego State University and University of San Diego. VOLUMINOUS ART – Treasures from San Diego’s University Libraries will celebrate the art of the book by showcasing approximately 25 volumes from each library collection, a sampling that will hint at centuries-old practices of book design, typography, binding and printing.

Second Saturday Art Lesson

Tints, tones, and shades, oh my! Immerse yourself in the world of shamrocks, rolling hills, flowers and leaves as we celebrate the season. In this lesson you’ll learn how mix paints to create new hues to express space, depth and form in your spring-time scenes.

Please note: due to the popularity of our Second Saturday art lessons, we now have two times available to participate. The first lesson will run from 10-11 a.m., and the second lesson will run from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.

They recommend you RSVP and arrive early as we have limited seating given on a first-come, first-served basis.

6th Annual International Mariachi Festival

This day-long, community-friendly event attracts thousands each year, giving families an opportunity to come together and celebrate San Diego’s Mexican heritage through Mariachi music, colorful traditional ballet folkloric dancing, and a grand celebration of the arts, culture and culinary delights.
