Art Around Adams 2013: Ten Years on the Avenue!

Celebrating its first decade milestone this year, the tenth annual Art Around Adams event titled “Art Around Adams 2013: Ten Years on the Avenue!” will take place on Saturday, June 1. The music and art walk extends over 2 miles on Adams Avenue in the Normal Heights and Kensington communities running from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. A free and family-friendly event, Art Around Adams 2013: Ten Years on the Avenue! will showcase numerous visual and performance artists, stretching from Oregon street in Normal Heights to Vista street in Kensington. More than 100 businesses will change into impromptu art galleries and/or performance arenas for the day. The event kicks off with introductions from Mayor Bob Filner and Council President Todd Gloria, followed by meet & greets with them. The event consists of over nine performance areas (including a new “Kids Zone”) featuring music, performance art, creation of large scale murals, circus performers, dance, theatre, projection art, intergalactic superhero wrestling, comedians, a CD release party, and a free screening of the Disney/Pixar film Monsters, Inc.
