4th Annual San Diego Burger Battle

Bull BBQ is on a nationwide hunt to find the country’s best burgers. On Saturday, August 6th, the competition comes to San Diego. Over 20 competitors will throw down for bragging rights to the title of “Best Burger in San Diego”.

Visit the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center

Visit the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center; on Saturday, one-hour guided tours are available to the public, ansd visitors can also take self-guided tours through the facility. The OTC is dedicated to developing America’s Olympic athletes, and features numerous sport venues and support facilities for archery, beach volleyball, BMX, canoe/kayak, cycling, field hockey, rowing, rugby, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, triathlon, and cross-training abilities for various winter sports.

Chula Vista Lemon Festival

Pucker up for the sweetest sour event of the year, the Third Avenue Village Association’s Lemon Festival presented by Wal Mart. Returning for its 20th year, the Lemon Festival brings crates full of summer fun to Chula Vista’s Original Neighborhood, spanning Third Avenue from E to G Street. Celebrate Chula Vista’s reign as the Lemon Capital of the World with live bands, hundreds of vendor booths, Festival Fun Zone, craft beer garden and everything lemon.

Food and activities also top off the family-friendly fun.

Historic Gaslamp Quarter Tour

Opening a window to San Diego’s past, the Gaslamp Architectural Tour showcases the history of the Davis-Horton House built in 1850, as well as the history of the of the historic Gaslamp Quarter. The tour includes architecturally significant structures of the period, along with fascinating stories of the people and characters that shaped the destiny of San Diego.

21st Annual Lake Poway Youth Fishing Derby

Grab the fishing poles and the kids and head to Lake Poway (14644 Lake Poway Rd.) for a morning of free, family-friendly fun. The lake has been freshly stocked with 1,500 pounds of rainbow trout and will be open only to youth age 15 and younger for this derby. The event includes entertainment, storytelling contests, a free BBQ lunch and prizes to be given out during a 1 p.m. awards ceremony. No registration is required.

Mardi Gras

Find a little slice of New Orleans in San Diego’s historic Downtown Quarter by attending this mega Marti Gras party in downtown San Diego. The event, which spans across 16 blocks, will feature DJs, multiple stages for live music, rooftop performances and a parade. Ticket prices start at $30 and only those 21 or older will be allowed into the event.
