California Ballet Company presents “The Nutcracker” at the San Diego Civic Theatre with the San Diego Symphony happening Dec. 14 through 23, 2018.

Noel Noel – San Diego Symphony’s Holiday Concert

The San Diego Symphony invites you to make Copley Symphony Hall your home for the holidays at our annual “Noel Noel” concert. San Diego Santa Run 5K and 1 Mile Race

The San Diego Santa Run is a holiday experience like none other in San Diego! The event will consist of a series of runs that will take place on Garnet Ave featuring a 5K fun run and 1 mile run waves that include run with your dog, kids run, and a competitive wave. Special Spreckels Organ Concert

To honor members of the Spreckels Organ Society and salute the 104th anniversary of the great Spreckels Organ, Raúl Prieto Ramírez will play a special concert at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 14. The concert will be free to the public, and members will be especially welcomed with free coffee or hot chocolate upon presentation of their valid membership card.

Musical selections will include the “audience choice” favorites of the past year: selections that Raúl has presented that were chosen for repeat performance by pavilion audiences.

3rd Annual La Mesa Holiday in the Village

The 3rd annual La Mesa Holiday in the Village will once again be ringing in holiday cheer for everyone far and near!

Starting Friday, Dec. 7 and ending on Saturday, Dec. 8 in La Mesa Village, friends and family will have the chance to take part in the free festive fun with live music, cozy fires, dancing, craft vendors, food and a kids’ area bigger than Santa’s Toy Shop!

Coronado’s Annual Holiday Parade

Coronado’s  43rd Annual Holiday Parade will happen tonight, Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 at 6 p.m.

This hometown parade is a true holiday tradition and thousands line the street each year to kick off the holiday season in style! The parade starts at 6 p.m., but many come early to Rotary Plaza to sing carols from 5-6 p.m. and anxiously await Santa’s arrival via fire truck. Once Santa arrives, one lucky local family is selected each year to help the Mayor flip the switch on Star Pine.

Back by popular demand, the free Children’s Faire runs from 2 to 5 p.m. Friends and family, young and old, can make their way to Memorial Park and take a ride down everyone’s favorite Frosty’s Snow Hill! Downtown Chula Vista will transform into a Winter Wonderland with real snow for sledding, holly, jolly treats like photos with Santa, fun games, story time, train rides, bounce house, ornament making and an all new “Elf Yourself” station where the little ones can dress up in hats, face painting and glitter bar to magically transform into Santa’s Little Helpers.

Liberty Station Tree Lighting & Holiday Festivities

The community is invited to enjoy the holiday magic with an 88-foot Norfolk pine tree lighting, a Holiday Marketplace with local vendors, Christmas carolers, pictures with Santa, a viewing of “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” and more!

Live entertainment will kick off the evening at 5 p.m. At 6:15 p.m., the tree lighting ceremony will commence as a patient family of Rady Children’s Hospital lights the towering Christmas tree from top to bottom.

Following the tree lighting, peruse the Holiday Marketplace for holiday goodies, gifts and more in the Central Promenade, or grab a bite from the one of the neighborhood eateries before the outdoor viewing of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,”

Garden of Lights

Parts of the San Diego Botanic Garden are transformed into a dazzling winter wonderland with over 125,000 sparkling lights illuminating the garden for a magical holiday experience!

Holiday Lights on Main Street

Prescott Promenade in El Cajon will look like a winter village as the annual Holiday Lights on Main Street festival takes over the outdoor courtyard. Dozens of local retailers will gather in the promenade to sell fashion and jewelry, art, books, delicious treats and more. Nearby, Santa will take pictures with visitors and guests can take to the ice for a skating session or some carnival rides. The event is in conjunction with Small Business Saturday, which invites people to “shop local” on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Stay until 6 p.m. to see the Christmas tree light up with holiday magic.

Surfin’ Santa

Santa Claus — in board shorts. The 13th annual Surfin’ Santa celebration brings the jolly fella to Seaport Village only, instead of a sleigh, Santa will arrive on a boat along the San Diego Bay. Once on land, visitors can pose with Santa before enjoying a parade and live performances along the bayside boardwalk. It is free to see Santa but Seaport Village encourages visitors to stick around and shop small at the many stores there as part of Small Business Saturday.

Fishing boats, sail boats, yachts, kayaks and dingys will all be dressed-up in holiday swag and circling Oceanside Harbor enchanting onlookers along the harbor and at the neighboring restaurants. Many of the boats even feature people dressed up like Santa waving to the crowd!

San Diego County Events for December 1 – 3, 2017

As expected, this first weekend of December is all about the holiday season and the coming of Christmas. Find a festival or holiday activity near you!

Encinitas Holiday Parade

For the 60th year, Encinitas will kick off the holiday season at the 2017 Encinitas Holiday Parade, presented by Lazy Acres Natural Market on Saturday, December 2.  Thousands of people will be on floats, on foot, in cars, and marching in bands while tens of thousands cheer them along the Parade route along Coast Highway 101.  The nighttime parade theme for 2017 is “Celebrating the Arts!”

Winter Wonderland Festival

Every year, the Center brings the North Pole to the heart of Escondido.  Children will have the chance to meet Santa, play in real snow, decorate Christmas cookies, see live reindeer, enjoy holiday-themed entertainers, and more!

La Jolla Christmas Parade & Holiday Festival

Come to the La Jolla Christmas Parade & Holiday Festival on this Sunday. There will be entertainment, a kids’ zone, educational exhibits, and photos with Santa.

Little Italy Tree Lighting & Christmas Village: San Diego

San Diego’s Little Italy will kick-off this holiday season with festive family fun at the 19th Annual Little Italy Tree Lighting and Christmas Village. Families, friends and neighbors will experience Little Italy’s Christmas magic and will be able to enjoy the community’s festive décor, seasonal vendors, live music and entertainment, horse carriage rides, holiday treats, a tree lighting, a visit from Santa, and more!

Seas ‘N’ Greetings

The holiday magic meets the magic of the underwater world at Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s Birch Aquarium this Saturday.
