The Encinitas Holiday Street Fair is one of the largest holiday fairs in San Diego County. It’ll be located down the center of six blocks of scenic South Coast Highway 101, two blocks from the Pacific Ocean.  The Holiday Street Fair, continuous since 1989, children’s rides, two stages of live entertainment and food and drink refreshments provide an attractive setting for the public and a great boon to our vendors.

Mother Goose Parade

Mother Goose is ready to usher in the holiday season in El Cajon. The annual parade marches down Main Street, from El Cajon Boulevard to First Street, with an array of whimsical balloons, from Humpty Dumpty to turkeys, and of course Mother Goose herself.

Rady Children’s Ice Rink in Liberty Station

Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary and Liberty Station welcome San Diegans to kick off the holiday season with outdoor ice skating at the Rady Children’s Ice Rink at Liberty Station beginning Saturday, November 17 and closing Sunday, January 6.

The outdoor rink will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The Spreckels Organ Society lights up San Diego summer nights with the International Summer Organ Festival ­– an inspiring lineup of free outdoor concerts at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park, each designed to demonstrate the fresh sound of the historic 1914 Spreckels Organ, the largest outdoor pipe organ in the world.

The 2018 Festival features virtuoso performances by world-class organists, acclaimed string and organ duos, Rising Stars Night with 15-year-old twin organists, the always popular Spreckels Silent Movie Night, and Rocking Balboa: A Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin Tribute.

Tap that Glass

Surfside Tap Room, a craft beer store in Oceanside, is hosting a summer hangout party every Sunday night at their seaside location. The free dog- and family-friendly event features an array of food trucks, a DJ spinning tunes, and a selection of pop-up shops with local artisan goods. RSVP in advance.

Food Truck Fridays

Food trucks will swamp Balboa Park every Friday this summer. A lineup of about a dozen food trucks will rotate each week through September 28 at Plaza de Panama ready to feed hungry guests while listening to a variety of live music. Visitors are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit in front of the Botanical Building as they eat, or enjoy craft beer, wine and cocktails inside nearby restaurants. Booths will be set up with activities for kids and Balboa Park will introduce a “living room” area filled with giant lawn games. Surrounding museums will extend hours to accommodate guests and the San Diego Museum of Art will offer $5 admission after 5 p.m.

Second Saturday Art Lesson

Tints, tones, and shades, oh my! Immerse yourself in the world of shamrocks, rolling hills, flowers and leaves as we celebrate the season. In this lesson you’ll learn how mix paints to create new hues to express space, depth and form in your spring-time scenes.

Please note: due to the popularity of our Second Saturday art lessons, we now have two times available to participate. The first lesson will run from 10-11 a.m., and the second lesson will run from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.

Food Forest Festival

San Diego Tap & Jazz Festival 2016

The second annual San Diego Tap & Jazz Dance Festival celebrates tap and jazz dancing with a weekend of lessons, dance jam sessions and showcases.

All dancers are welcome and classes are suitable for all ages and levels from first timers to advanced dancers. Classes range from Lindy Hop to tap technique and tap repertory. Students in the repertory classes will have the opportunity to dance in the final festival performance, which includes performances from all of the faculty.

Those who would rather watch a show than participate can head over to the White Box Theatre at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016.

California Tower Reopening

The California Tower has been closed to the public since 1935. But it reopens this weekend with tours that take visitors about 125 steps to the first viewing deck.

From the second floor of the Museum, you go up a staircase hidden to the public for decades. Then you climb seven floors, getting glimpses through narrow windows of the beauty outside. Finally, you climb a spiral metal stairway and emerge into sunlight where you will see a spectacular Southern California vista.

Kids’ Fishing Day at Lake Jennings

kid fishingAnglers 15 and under fish for free, with a Kids’ Pond set up for the little ones. This event is dedicated to helping kids learn about fishing and the enjoyment of outdoors. The lake will be closed the day before for settle-in time from a huge stocking of 3800 pounds of Sierra Bows and Nebraska Tailwalkers.

International Auto Show
