Enjoy a movie under the stars at this outdoor theater on Goldfinch Street in Mission Hills. The winter/spring screening season recently began, with a movie playing at 8 p.m. now through April 29 every Friday and Saturday night. This weekend, the Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford flick, “Blade Runner 2049,” is on the big screen. Check the Cinema Under the Stars website for a schedule of which movies are playing when throughout the season.

Salsa Under the Stars

This free event invites you to salsa dance under the stars in the courtyard of The Headquarters shopping center – no partner or experience required. Music will be performed by the Manny Cepeda Orchestra.

CRY San Diego’s Color The Sky Kite Festival 2018

CRY San Diego’s Color the Sky Kite Festival is back! Join us and hundreds of others in beautiful Coronado for live music, Indian food and snacks, desi kites and more! Kites and thread will be included with registration, while supplies last. Food and water will be available for purchase.

Make N’ Play Family Music Day

Children will have the opportunity to create an instrument of their own. In this, the first of these interactive workshops, the focus will be on making a box guitar. Younger children will be able to make simpler instruments such as shakers and rattles. With their new instruments, children will be invited to “join a band” and play with others on the stage.

Free snacks, giveaways and additional hands-on activities round out this fun filled afternoon! No experience necessary and all supplies are provided. Adults must accompany children. Geared toward children ages 4-12 and their families.

Santee Active Lifestyle Expo

This free event Saturday in Santee highlights some of the many health and wellness activities San Diego County has to offer. The event kicks off with the U.S. Track & Field 50KM Race Walk Championships at 7:30 a.m. Then, guests can explore the Expo and try extreme obstacle courses, test fitness classes, shop the vendor fair and meet elite athletes.

Sunday Organ Concert

Enjoy a free, hour-long organ concert Sunday at Balboa Park’s famed Spreckels Organ Pavilion. At the keys, the audience will find Raul Prieto Ramirez, the city’s newest San Diego Civic Organist and Artistic Director of the Spreckels Organ Society. Prieto Ramirez hails from Spain and, as he told NBC 7, hopes to keep the program interesting – from Bach to Queen – at the historic Spreckels Organ.

San Diego County is busy with all sorts of activities and events and festivals going on this weekend — there is something for everyone in the next few days!

Mission Federal ArtWalk

On April 30 & May 1, 2016, Mission Federal ArtWalk will fill 17 blocks in San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood.  Thousands of attendees come to view and purchase artwork, enjoy the music and dance and participate in interactive art experiences.

32nd Annual Children’s Book Party

El Cajon’s 26th Annual Arbor Day Ceremony

The City of El Cajon – a community designated a “Tree City USA” for the past 18 years for its devotion to planting and maintaining trees – will host its 26th Annual Arbor Day Ceremony at Hillside Park (840 Buena Terrace). Volunteers will plant more than 20 new trees in the surrounding park. The event also includes light refreshments and free tree seedlings distributed by SDG&E.

2nd Annual San Diego Half Marathon

If you missed it in 2013 or you’re dying to run it again, the 2nd Annual San Diego Holiday Half Marathon is the same fast 13.1 mile course that starts in Rancho Penasquitos, along Carmel Mountain Rd (your only ‘real’ hill at mile 1.5), along the 56 bike path and finishes at the beautiful Torrey Pines State Beach. The race includes a 711-foot net elevation drop which also makes it a personal best candidate.

Event: La Mesa concert series

La Mesa’s “Sundays at Six” Summer Concert Series holds another concert this weekend.

The free, family-friendly concert series in La Mesa continues this month in July with this Sunday’s event: Pine Creek Posse, bring country music to this part of San Diego County. As its name suggests, the concert will be held this Sunday, July 13 at 6pm — check it out for some good family fun!

Event: Spring Busker Festival in Seaport Village

 Seaport Village will welcome strange and extraordinary acts from around the world to its 8th annual Spring Busker Festival. The celebration brings colorful street performers – from jugglers on unicycles to stilt walkers, contortionists and acrobalancers – to the waterfront shopping, dining and entertainment district. Aside from the remarkable performances, visitors will enjoy special sales from more than 50 shops, restaurants and eateries at Seaport Village. This one-of-a-kind event only happens once a year, and entrance to the Busker Festival is FREE. Parking and a shuttle service will be available for festivalgoers.

December Nights Balboa Park
