12th Annual Summer Chamber Music Festival

Festival from June 24 to July 8, 2017 brings the sounds of Beethoven, Mozart and other composers to the beautiful USD campus. Directed by Dr. Angela Yeung, the festival provides a unique opportunity for musicians of all ages and affordable concerts for music lovers. Festival includes lunchtime, afternoon and evening concerts. View the full schedule.

Second Annual Imperial Beach Red White & Blue Celebration

Star-Spangled Pops

The San Diego Symphony pays tribute to America with this three-day “Star-Spangled Pops” concert at Embarcadero Marina Park South. The Symphony will perform patriotic tunes in a show, ending with a salute to the armed forces and fireworks.

San Diego County Fair

The yearly county fair is here! This year’s theme is “Where the West is Fun”; the fair runs through Tuesday, July 4, 2017.

Summer Movies in the Park

Summer Movies in the Park is a series of free outdoor movie screenings in community parks and recreation centers throughout San Diego.

Movies begin at dusk, which is about 15 minutes after sunset. People are encouraged to come early for picnics and activities.

This (June 30 & July 1) Friday & Saturday’s free movies (find locations via the schedule link) include:

  • Captain America: Civil War
  • The Sandlot
  • The LEGO Batman Movie

8th Annual Doggie Street Festival

13th Annual Carlsbad Music Festival

The 13th annual Carlsbad Music Festival is a 3-day summer celebration of “adventurous music by the beach” in the charming seaside Village of Carlsbad. The Festival, called “one of the area’s most innovative music showcases” by KPBS, features 60+ performances of creative music of all kinds curated by Founder and Artistic Director, composer/violinist Matt McBane.

Imperial Avenue Street Festival

The Imperial Avenue Street Festival blends art and soul in one of San Diego’s most historic and unique neighborhoods. The festival celebrates the rich history, arts and culture of the Greater Logan Heights community. From its rich African-American roots to the strong Latino influence that exists today, the festival grooves to the sounds of live music from multiple stages.  Enjoy gourmet food and beverages, a kids’ zone with music, arts and crafts, and arts from several artist.

4th Annual San Diego Burger Battle

Bull BBQ is on a nationwide hunt to find the country’s best burgers. On Saturday, August 6th, the competition comes to San Diego. Over 20 competitors will throw down for bragging rights to the title of “Best Burger in San Diego”.

Visit the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center

Visit the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center; on Saturday, one-hour guided tours are available to the public, ansd visitors can also take self-guided tours through the facility. The OTC is dedicated to developing America’s Olympic athletes, and features numerous sport venues and support facilities for archery, beach volleyball, BMX, canoe/kayak, cycling, field hockey, rowing, rugby, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, triathlon, and cross-training abilities for various winter sports.

Chula Vista Lemon Festival

Pucker up for the sweetest sour event of the year, the Third Avenue Village Association’s Lemon Festival presented by Wal Mart. Returning for its 20th year, the Lemon Festival brings crates full of summer fun to Chula Vista’s Original Neighborhood, spanning Third Avenue from E to G Street. Celebrate Chula Vista’s reign as the Lemon Capital of the World with live bands, hundreds of vendor booths, Festival Fun Zone, craft beer garden and everything lemon.
