Trick-or-Treat on India Street 

Come dressed in your ghoulishly best to trick-or-treat on historic India Street. Little Italy’s restaurants, shops and other participating businesses will be doling out sweet treats to provide kids with a fun and safe adventure. Pick up your trick-or-treating guide at the Piazza della Famiglia on W. Date Street. Kids of all ages are welcome at this free, family event.

2018 Showcase Concerto Competition

San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory’s intermediate level students compete for the prestigious opportunity to perform the concerto of their choice with full orchestra at our Showcase Level Concerts. This annual competition presents the chance for SDYS students to strive for excellence and amaze audiences with their exceptional level of musicianship.

BOOmont Fall Festival

Returning for its sixth season, BOOmont & Fall Fest rises from the dusk as Belmont Park transforms with festive fall thrills and chills throughout the beachfront amusement park, offering halloween and fall-themed festivities for guests of all ages in October and November! Kids Free October

October is Kids Free month in San Diego at more than 100 participating restaurants, attractions and hotels. That means free meals, free admission to theme parks, museums and more, and free gifts at several other locations. Kids can take a dive at Legoland when an adult buys their ticket, visit the animals at either the San Diego Zoo or San Diego Zoo Safari Park (or both!), or dine free at Carnitas Snack Shack, just to name a few. ‘Sleepy Hollow: A Musical Tale’

A Halloween-themed play! Three modern day kids try to figure out how to return home after they are magically transported back in time on Halloween night. They are thrown straight into the legend of Sleepy Hollow as the 18th century colonial town is preparing for the arrival of the Headless Horseman.

SanDiego.org has a few suggestions for weekend events in San Diego:

Haunted Tales of our Seafaring Past

For a historically haunting experience, venture on board the Star of India, the world’s oldest active sailing ship for a special 45-60 minute tour. Part of San Diego’s Maritime Museum collection, the Star of India’s storied past includes real-life encounters with ghosts, and the tour includes special activities for the family, including seafaring ghost stories and “creepy treats.” Kids are encouraged to wear costumes.

2013 Escondido Fall Street Faire

Since 1989, the Escondido Street Faire has brought live entertainment, over 500 vendors, children’s rides and activities, and food from around the world to the downtown tree-lined streets of Escondido. Covering seven blocks along historic Grand Avenue, the Escondido Street Fair is the second largest single-day fair in California.

Pumpkin Express

Join in the fun aboard the Pumpkin Express at the historic Campo Depot and travel to the Great Pumpkin Patch. Children and their parents will enjoy the one hour train ride, then tour the Haunted Train, where each child gets to pick out his or her own pumpkin and decorate it inside the Display Building.

Events: Two Family Halloween Activities

This last week of October, there are two Halloween events that seem especially geared towards families with children in the San Diego area. Have fun!

Halloween Bash on the Bay | San DiegoHalloween Bash on the Bay

Enjoy the second-annual Halloween celebration with the family at Seaport Village. With more than 50 shops for trick-or-treating, live music, and photos with a living scarecrow, there is more than enough fun to fill up the entire candy sack! Entertainment will abound from 3:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. with trick-or-treating from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Pets are welcome to experience the festive fun in a pet costume contest. Come early and catch the sunset on the waterfront while enjoying dinner at one of the 14 restaurants and eateries.

Trick-or-Treat on India Street in Little Italy

Trick-or-treat on India StreetThe Little Italy Association (LIA) invites families to visit San Diego’s Little Italy community for a safe, family-friendly Halloween. A favorite annual event, “Trick-or-Treat on India Street” brings the neighborhood together and allows a chance for kids to trick-or-treat up and down India Street from participating merchants. Open to the public, the event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. The event is free for families and serves as a way for LIA host a traditional Halloween experience in an urban setting. To participate, families must check-in at the Piazza Basilone, located at the corner of W. Fir and India Streets, to pick up their event map. There they will be on their way to get Halloween candy from identified storefronts that are part of the event. “Our annual “Trick or Treat on India Street” is a real locals event,” said Steven Galasso, President of LIA, “It’s truly a joy to host this for downtown families and see kids’ Halloween costumes when they celebrate Halloween in Little Italy.”
