San Diego County Events for December 11 -13

Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season! With only two weeks to go until Christmas, there’s plenty of holiday spirit to go around down here in San Diego County with these great events and activities for the family!

Join us for the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights, an annual time-honored holiday tradition brought to San Diego by the boating community.The parade takes place on San Diego Bay with more than 80 boats lavishly decorated to a new theme each year. Held on two consecutive Sundays in December, the parade proceeds from Shelter Island past Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village, and the Ferry Landing in Coronado. Whether you’re a participant or spectator, the Parade of Lights is a festive and delightful experience for all!

2015 Theme – Christmas Around the World! Estimated arrival times at the following locations:

  • Shelter Island (start of parade): 5:30 PM
  • Harbor Island: 6:00 PM
  • The Embarcadero: 6:30 PM
  • Seaport Village: 7:00 PM
  • Ferry Landing on Coronado: 7:30 PM

Liberty Station Holiday Walkabout

Liberty Station’s Holiday Walkabout will kick off a new quarterly community-driven ‘walkabout’ series on Saturday, December 12th.

Take in the thousands of twinkling lights and festoons of holiday decor within the neighborhood’s north end “Arts District” (between Roosevelt Rd and Lytton St). Feast on complimentary holiday-inspired tastes and sips from favorite local eateries, wander the endless artisan galleries and boutiques for the perfect gift, or hit the new ice rink for an evening of family-fun. Liberty Station’s hoverboarding Surfing’ Santa will touch down to greet well-wishing kiddos, and with live music and entertainment stationed along Sims Rd., there’s plenty of holiday revelry to be had by all. The tour is free.

Oceanside Harbor Parade of Lights

One of San Diego’s favorite events is back again this year! Line the shore as fishing boats, sailboats, yachts, kayaks and dingys decked out in beautiful lights and decorations coast into the harbor. If you’re looking for the best spot, try heading over to the side of the harbor close to the police station to get a two-sided view of the parade. The event is free.

San Diego Made Holiday Market

This unique, holiday shopping  and cultural experience will feature: over 50 local makers, holiday craft cocktail bar, live music and more.
