The San Diego Bay Parade of Lights is a time-honored holiday tradition with more than 80 boats lavishly decorated sailing by the shores for all to see. Held on two consecutive Sundays in December, the parade proceeds from Shelter Island past Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village, Pier at Cesar Chavez Park and the Ferry Landing in Coronado.

3rd Annual La Mesa Holiday in the Village

The 3rd annual La Mesa Holiday in the Village will once again be ringing in holiday cheer for everyone far and near!

Starting Friday, Dec. 7 and ending on Saturday, Dec. 8 in La Mesa Village, friends and family will have the chance to take part in the free festive fun with live music, cozy fires, dancing, craft vendors, food and a kids’ area bigger than Santa’s Toy Shop!

Christmas in the Valley

Christmas in the Valley on Bates Nut Farm will feature Santa arriving by fire engine, a Polar Express ride to visit with Santa, crafts, carols and a singing contest. Craft and resale vendors will be selling a variety of holiday items.

Coronado’s Annual Holiday Parade

Coronado’s  43rd Annual Holiday Parade will happen tonight, Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 at 6 p.m.

This hometown parade is a true holiday tradition and thousands line the street each year to kick off the holiday season in style! The parade starts at 6 p.m., but many come early to Rotary Plaza to sing carols from 5-6 p.m. and anxiously await Santa’s arrival via fire truck. Once Santa arrives, one lucky local family is selected each year to help the Mayor flip the switch on Star Pine.

Two unique Mid-Century Modern Adobes, a beautifully restored 1915 Craftsman, as well as Classic and Mid-Century styles will be featured.

The La Mesa Historical Society, along with San Diego Home & Garden Lifestyle Magazine and Modern San Diego, presents the13th Annual Home Tour, “Modern Mud.” Modern Mud highlights Adobe, Classic, and Mid Century gems in La Mesa’s Eastridge and Mt. Nebo neighborhoods.

La Mesa Park Appreciation Day

The public is invited to participate in the 13th annual Park Appreciation Day on Saturday, October 13, 2018, 8:00 am to noon.  Park Appreciation Day provides volunteers the opportunity to give  back to their community and help beautify
La Mesa Parks by assisting in projects that include planting, picking up trash, raking, painting, trimming and weeding. Participants are encouraged to bring their own gloves and tools such as rakes, trowels, trimmers, shovels etc. All ages welcome!

Adams Avenue Street Fair

The 37th annual Adams Avenue Street Fair will feature more than 80 artists performing on six stages along Adams Avenue in Normal Heights.

This year’s headliners will include West London reggae/tropical pop sing Hollie Cook (daughter of Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook), and the roots-rockin’ Deke Dickerson and the Ecco-Fonics. In addition to the great variety of music, there will be a craft beer taste (Saturday only), four beer gardens, giant carnival rides, festival food and more than 300 exhibitors.

Food Truck Fridays

Food trucks will swamp Balboa Park every Friday this summer. A lineup of about a dozen food trucks will rotate each week through September 28 at Plaza de Panama ready to feed hungry guests while listening to a variety of live music. Visitors are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit in front of the Botanical Building as they eat, or enjoy craft beer, wine and cocktails inside nearby restaurants. Booths will be set up with activities for kids and Balboa Park will introduce a “living room” area filled with giant lawn games. Surrounding museums will extend hours to accommodate guests and the San Diego Museum of Art will offer $5 admission after 5 p.m.

El Cajon Dinner and a Concert

One of El Cajon’s premier events, our Dinner & a Concert Series is back again this year in the center of Downtown El Cajon. Dinner & A Concert is a weekly concert and dance hosted by Downtown El Cajon Business Partners, performed on the Prescott Promenade, which is surrounded by a variety of restaurants. Thousands of people from all over San Diego County arrive to see and listen to many of our local bands and musicians. Join us Friday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 PM for a great time and great food from our downtown restaurants.

Easter Egg Hunt

You’ll want to hop on over to the Children’s Nature Retreat for our Easter Egg Hunt and look for the “Special Retreat Egg.”  The big hunt begins at 10:30am on Saturday, March 31st. There will be plenty of candy-filled eggs hidden around the Retreat for even the most inexperienced egg seeker.

Along with the hunt, there will be a keeper talk with a special appearance by our big 10-pound white bunny, Easter, at 11:30AM at the picnic area.  Come hear the story of how Easter showed up at the Retreat and learn all about our soft, furry friends.
