Fifth Annual Shaper Festival of Surfing

Fourth Annual San Diego Paella Festival

The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch

It’s the last weekend for the famous Flower Fields in Carlsbad Ranch — and a perfect place to take Mom for Mother’s Day! The fields are open daily, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., through May 14. Patrons will enjoy nearly 50 acres of colorful displays of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers, which are in bloom for six to eight weeks. The famous fields also include roses, orchids, sweet pea blossoms, petunias and poinsettias.

Quilt, Craft and Sewing Festival

If Mom’s into crafting, take her to the Quilt, Craft and Sewing Festival — this three-day supply show at Bing Crosby Hall at the Del Mar Fairgrounds caters to quilters, sewers, stitchers and crafters looking for inspiration. The expo will feature hundreds of booths and vendors, plus free classes and make-and-take workshops. Admission is $10 for all three days; parking is $13.

Queen Bee Market

More than 100 vendors will line Wyland Hall at the Del Mar Fairgrounds both Friday (4 p.m. to 9 p.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) for the Queen Bee Market, selling all kinds of good things – from home décor and accessories to clothing, vintage finds, paper art and more.

It’s already one day in, but the Gator By The Bay festival is happening every day until Sunday evening. It’s a Zydeco, Blues & Crawfish festival that sounds like a great time!

The Gator By The Bay is the largest, most authentic Louisiana-themed music and food festival on the west coast. at the Spanish Landing Park, across from San Diego International Airport.

Presented by San Diego’s Bon Temps Social Club, it features four days of live music with over 85 musical acts on six stages, along with 10,000 pounds of crawfish trucked from Louisiana, non-stop dancing, shopping, playing and eating on the beautiful San Diego Bay.

Bacon & Barrels San Diego
