Oceanside International Film Festival 2016

Pucker up for the sweetest sour event of the year, the Third Avenue Village Association’s Lemon Festival presented by Wal Mart. Returning for its 20th year, the Lemon Festival brings crates full of summer fun to Chula Vista’s Original Neighborhood, spanning Third Avenue from E to G Street. Historic Gaslamp Quarter Tour

Opening a window to San Diego’s past, the Gaslamp Architectural Tour showcases the history of the Davis-Horton House built in 1850, as well as the history of the of the historic Gaslamp Quarter. The tour includes architecturally significant structures of the period, along with fascinating stories of the people and characters that shaped the destiny of San Diego.

21st Annual Lake Poway Youth Fishing Derby

Grab the fishing poles and the kids and head to Lake Poway (14644 Lake Poway Rd.) for a morning of free, family-friendly fun. The lake has been freshly stocked with 1,500 pounds of rainbow trout and will be open only to youth age 15 and younger for this derby. The event includes entertainment, storytelling contests, a free BBQ lunch and prizes to be given out during a 1 p.m. awards ceremony. No registration is required.

Mardi Gras

Find a little slice of New Orleans in San Diego’s historic Downtown Quarter by attending this mega Marti Gras party in downtown San Diego. The event, which spans across 16 blocks, will feature DJs, multiple stages for live music, rooftop performances and a parade. Ticket prices start at $30 and only those 21 or older will be allowed into the event.

Festival of the Bells

Celebrates the anniversary of Mission San Diego de Alcalá, the Mother of California’s 21 Missions, which was founded by Blessed Father Junipero Serra on July 16, 1769. All five Mission bells are rung during the weekend festivities, including an original bell dating back to 1802. There will also be food, entertainment, dancing and traditional activities like the Blessing of the Bells and the Blessing of the Animals.

Event: Half-off admission for San Diego Museum Month

It’s not too late to enjoy half-off admission for San Diego’s Museum Month. The program, hosted by Macy’s, lasts until the 29th of February, and is a great way to learn a bit of history, science, or the arts and enjoy yourself!
