Enjoy a movie under the stars at this outdoor theater on Goldfinch Street in Mission Hills. The winter/spring screening season recently began, with a movie playing at 8 p.m. now through April 29 every Friday and Saturday night. This weekend, the Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford flick, “Blade Runner 2049,” is on the big screen. Check the Cinema Under the Stars website for a schedule of which movies are playing when throughout the season.

Salsa Under the Stars

This free event invites you to salsa dance under the stars in the courtyard of The Headquarters shopping center – no partner or experience required. Music will be performed by the Manny Cepeda Orchestra.

CRY San Diego’s Color The Sky Kite Festival 2018

CRY San Diego’s Color the Sky Kite Festival is back! Join us and hundreds of others in beautiful Coronado for live music, Indian food and snacks, desi kites and more! Kites and thread will be included with registration, while supplies last. Food and water will be available for purchase.

Make N’ Play Family Music Day

Children will have the opportunity to create an instrument of their own. In this, the first of these interactive workshops, the focus will be on making a box guitar. Younger children will be able to make simpler instruments such as shakers and rattles. With their new instruments, children will be invited to “join a band” and play with others on the stage.

Free snacks, giveaways and additional hands-on activities round out this fun filled afternoon! No experience necessary and all supplies are provided. Adults must accompany children. Geared toward children ages 4-12 and their families.

Santee Active Lifestyle Expo

This free event Saturday in Santee highlights some of the many health and wellness activities San Diego County has to offer. The event kicks off with the U.S. Track & Field 50KM Race Walk Championships at 7:30 a.m. Then, guests can explore the Expo and try extreme obstacle courses, test fitness classes, shop the vendor fair and meet elite athletes.

Sunday Organ Concert

Enjoy a free, hour-long organ concert Sunday at Balboa Park’s famed Spreckels Organ Pavilion. At the keys, the audience will find Raul Prieto Ramirez, the city’s newest San Diego Civic Organist and Artistic Director of the Spreckels Organ Society. Prieto Ramirez hails from Spain and, as he told NBC 7, hopes to keep the program interesting – from Bach to Queen – at the historic Spreckels Organ.

This 17-acre holiday festival is in San Diego for the first time ever this season, up and running at SDCCU Stadium through Jan. 7, 2018. The family-friendly international celebration features the largest display of traditional Chinese lanterns outside of China, plus acrobatics performances, carnival rides, holiday-themed activities, games, food and shopping. The little ones can even write letters to Santa Claus and visit sections like Toyland, Candyland and the North Pole. Global Winter Wonderland opens daily at either 4:30 p.m. or 5 p.m. but is closed on some dates.

Seas ‘n’ Greetings

The magic of the holidays meets the magic of the underwater world at Birch Aquarium during Seas ‘n’ Greetings, a month-long holiday celebration featuring SEAsonal activities for the whole family.

From December 1 to 31, Birch Aquarium  is transformed into a holiday wonderland. Deck the Hall (of Fishes) and get into the holiday spirit every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and check the schedule for special appearances by Scuba Santa as well as themed animal encounters, a scavenger hunt, and fun photo opportunities. On Saturdays and Sundays, things are even more festive with live music and two daily dive shows. The schedule changes daily, so check the calendar for details. All Seas ‘n’ Greetings activities are included with admission.

There is no Garden of Lights on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Fishing boats, sail boats, yachts, kayaks and dingys will all be dressed-up in holiday swag and circling Oceanside Harbor enchanting onlookers along the harbor and at the neighboring restaurants. Many of the boats even feature people dressed up like Santa waving to the crowd!

Annual Winter Concert

The first part of our concert will feature the seasonal favorite, Handel’s Messiah. Enjoy the beautiful and intricate melodies as performed by the Chorus and local professional solists. The second half of the program will include a variety of seasonal music. Regular concert-goers will know that there is always a surprise or two along with familiar carols and songs.

Liberty Station Hanukkah & Menorah Lighting

Celebrate the beginning of Hanukkah with an early evening Menorah Lighting, music throughout the evening and much more. It’ll take place in Central Promenade between the ice rink and The Lot.

Encinitas Holiday Parade

For the 60th year, Encinitas will kick off the holiday season at the 2017 Encinitas Holiday Parade, presented by Lazy Acres Natural Market on Saturday, December 2.  Thousands of people will be on floats, on foot, in cars, and marching in bands while tens of thousands cheer them along the Parade route along Coast Highway 101.  The nighttime parade theme for 2017 is “Celebrating the Arts!”

Winter Wonderland Festival

Every year, the Center brings the North Pole to the heart of Escondido.  Children will have the chance to meet Santa, play in real snow, decorate Christmas cookies, see live reindeer, enjoy holiday-themed entertainers, and more!
