Sculpture in the Garden

The sprawling botanical garden in Encinitas (230 Quail Gardens Drive) is featuring the sculpture work of 30 artists through the month of April. See the artwork, ranging from whimsical to abstract, set against a backdrop of dragon trees, rare fruit gardens, bamboo groves and ponds. All of the artwork is available for purchase and goes to fund the botanical garden. Admission to the botanical garden is $14 for adults and $8 for children.

San Diego Veterans Day Parade

Thousands of San Diegans will salute those who served our country on Saturday at the annual San Diego Veterans Parade. Locals will line the parade route, from Waterfront Park down N. Harbor Drive, as floats, cars and other processions travel the one-mile stretch. The 32nd annual parade will pass USS Midway and the B Street Pier before turning left on Pacific Highway. Guests can view the parade along the entire route, excluding some sections reserved for the parade, which is free to attend.

Viejas Outlet Center Ice Rink 

Viejas Casino & Resort has decked the halls and opened their outdoor ice rink for the winter season (which doesn’t officially begin until Dec. 21). Guests can take a spin on one of Southern California’s largest outdoor skating rinks for 90 minutes with the purchase of a $16 for adults and $14 ticket for kids 12 and under. Season passes are available for those who want to enjoy the rink time and time again. The ice rink is open from 3 to 10 p.m. on the weekends and 5 to 10 p.m. during the week through November excluding Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. Check the schedule here before you go.

Tribute to Veterans – Inspiration Concert

Celebrate San Diego’s military with us at our first-ever Tribute to Veterans Concerts on Saturday, November 10, as we recognize and honor those who serve and have served our country. Pumpkin Express

Join the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association in our annual Pumpkin Express Halloween Celebration.  Come ride their decorated vintage railcars through the San Diego county mountains as fall descends upon Campo, CA.  Walk through the themed Display Building complete with two haunted trains, a pumpkin patch, and our creepy cast of ghosts and ghouls.

Start your spooky day off right with a train ride.  Trains depart from the Campo Depot at 11:00 AM, 1:15 PM, and 3:00 PM.  The Pumpkin Express will wind down the hill through some of the most scenic parts of the historic San Diego and Arizona Railway. After the train returns to the museum grounds, passengers will be let off at the Display Building where children and their parents will enjoy decorating pumpkins from the indoor pumpkin patch and a walk through one of our two haunted trains.

Festival Of Lights – 11th Annual Diwali Celebration

San Diego Indian American Society, in association with San Diego Museum of Art, and Indian associations of San Diego, will be celebrating the 11th Annual Festival of Lights on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 in historic Balboa Park. Besides the below schedule, there will be an ancient large lamps exhibition, lights procession, and local Indian restaurants will be selling food from various parts of India.

The public is invited to participate in the 13th annual Park Appreciation Day on Saturday, October 13, 2018, 8:00 am to noon.  Park Appreciation Day provides volunteers the opportunity to give  back to their community and help beautify
La Mesa Parks by assisting in projects that include planting, picking up trash, raking, painting, trimming and weeding. Participants are encouraged to bring their own gloves and tools such as rakes, trowels, trimmers, shovels etc. All ages welcome!

Back for its 10th season, the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival aims to do two things — celebrate local artists and inspire young artists through art education programs at schools. The free two-day festival returns to the heart of the La Jolla village with more than 1,150 artists’ work on display. There will also be a beer garden, gourmet marketplace, a silent auction, pet adoption stations and a lineup of entertainment and music.

San Diego Cabrillo Festival

The Cabrillo Festival is a fun event for the entire family, with educational activities, cultural demonstrations and exciting folkloric performances.

Adams Avenue Street Fair

The 37th annual Adams Avenue Street Fair will feature more than 80 artists performing on six stages along Adams Avenue in Normal Heights.

This year’s headliners will include West London reggae/tropical pop sing Hollie Cook (daughter of Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook), and the roots-rockin’ Deke Dickerson and the Ecco-Fonics. In addition to the great variety of music, there will be a craft beer taste (Saturday only), four beer gardens, giant carnival rides, festival food and more than 300 exhibitors.

One of El Cajon’s premier events, our Dinner & a Concert Series is back again this year in the center of Downtown El Cajon. Dinner & A Concert is a weekly concert and dance hosted by Downtown El Cajon Business Partners, performed on the Prescott Promenade, which is surrounded by a variety of restaurants. Thousands of people from all over San Diego County arrive to see and listen to many of our local bands and musicians. In 2018, ArtWalk Carlsbad makes its debut.  This fine art festival is part of the ArtWalk San Diego brand known for bringing together all facets of the arts in San diego while promoting the experience of owning orginal art.

More than 175 visual artists will show and sell their work, alongside  colorful chalk art that will fill the asphalt as you watch street paintings being created before your eyes on the pavement.
