71st Annual Mother Goose Parade

Fallback Festival

A Children’s Historic Street Faire: Perfect event for children and families! Kids will experience a cross-section of what life was like before the age of television, computers and cell phones. 

Take a trip back to the 1880s and get a glimpse of wild, wild San Diego! This historical street faire on Island Avenue brings you back to a fun, old-fashioned atmosphere. Children can pan for gold, watch a blacksmith practicing his trade, churn butter or saddle up for a pony ride.

Celtic Choral Celebration

The Center Chorale performs its first concert of the 2017-2018 season Friday night at the Center Theater at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. The show will focus on the tunes of Scotland and Ireland, couple with bagpipes and Highland dancing. The 50-voice ensemble will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Joseph Valent and conductor Dr. Joe Stanford, a professor emeritus from Palomar College.

Boulevard Boo Parade

San Diego’s only Halloween parade, the 13th annual Boulevard Boo Parade returns to El Cajon Boulevard with ghoulish floats, vintage cars, costumes, bands and spooky surprises. The free parade starts at the intersection of El Cajon and Rolando boulevards then travels west to 60th Street. Visitors can view the procession from the south side of El Cajon Boulevard. After the parade, the College Avenue Baptist Church (4747 College Ave.) will host the free AfterBOO! Carnival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring rides, games, inflatable play structures, arts and crafts vendors, food vendors and live music.

Halloween Family Day

The free 9th annual Balboa Park Halloween Family Day gives families a safe, fun, and culturally inspired way to kick off their Halloween activities.

Over two dozen participating museums and cultural attractions will present free craft projects for kids, costume parades and contests, and other spooky surprises from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Participating museums offer free admission to children 12 and under with paying adult.

DogFest Walk ‘N’ Roll San Diego

Get ready for a tail waggin’ good time at DogFest Walk ‘n Roll San Diego, the national signature event of Canine Companions for Independence! Old Town San Diego State Historic Park kicks off the fall season with its annual Fall Festival. The museums and merchants in the state park will be decorated and host family-friendly games, activities, and entertainment reminiscent of an old-fashioned harvest celebration including a pumpkin-carving demonstration from noon to 4 pm under a large shade tree in the center town plaza, musical entertainment and face painting in the central plaza, and pumpkin painting, corn shucking, and environmentally friendly bird-feeder making in a specially decorated Harvest Home. Participating merchants will also have craft activities inside their stores.

Fleet Week San Diego

Fleet Week San Diego (Oct. 11-17) runs through this weekend, a tradition that honors and celebrates the men and women of the U.S. military through public events that support our heroes. Events open to the public include Friday’s USO Concert in the Park at 5 p.m. at North Embarcadero Marina Park. The USO Show Troupe will perform songs from the 1940s to present day, while the second half of the show features the “beach country” sounds of Tim Hurley.

Harvest Festival: Original Art and Craft Show

Stars at Mission Trails

The San Diego Astronomy Association leads another stargazing session at Mission Trails Friday night, this time at the east end of the Kumeyaay Lake Campground’s day use parking lot. The three-hour event is free; the Astronomy Association will provide telescopes for those in attendance to use during the event.

Grand Avenue Festival

More than 500 vendors, children’s rides and activities will line the streets of Escondido Saturday and Sunday as residents come out to enjoy the sunshine, live music and children’s games. The festival crosses seven historic blocks of the city and marks the second largest single-day fair in California.

44th Annual San Diego Scottish Highland Games

Scottish culture will fill the park during the two day festival, which will feature a variety of activities and entertainment for guests of all ages: Sheepdog trials, Highland dancing, Scottish vendors, cuisine and beverages, bagpipe and drumming competitions, clan heritage tents, and hands-on children’s activities.

Fiesta Del Sol 2017

The 38th Annual Fiesta del Sol will be on May 20- 21, 2017 from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. each day. The Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce has been hosting this FREE two day arts & music festival for 37 years as a kick off to Summer in Solana Beach! The event takes place at Fletcher Cove.

The Belly Up is lining up a great list of musicians to perform over the two day event, which includes local community talent. There will also be a large, fun and exciting Children’s Area set up for families to enjoy rides, games and a climbing wall.

Come and visit our all-day Craft Fair (9am to 3pm), offering lots of handmade items by local artisans.  The day starts with a Patriot’s Day Parade at 10am, with schools, clubs, bands, businesses and local dignitaries marching or riding, and the day ends with a barbeque dinner (4-8pm) at the Tierrasanta Rec Center together with a fireworks display at dusk.  The Craft Fair and Parade are  free, and children are welcome.  Tickets for the dinner are available at the Craft Fair.

24th Southern California Band Festival

The 24th Southern California Band Festival is being held May 20 and 21, 2017 at Old Poway Park. The festival presents 17 adult concert bands from Southern California and Arizona with a new band every hour. The festivities conclude with the Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band starting at 6:15 Sunday. Food and beverages are available. Gift baskets will be auctioned off.

Balboa Park Holiday Food Truck Festival

Today is the last day for Balboa Park Conservancy’s Holiday Food Truck Festival in the Plaza de Panama and El Prado walkway.

The event features gourmet dishes from San Diego’s most popular food trucks, live music, and activities for families.

The Holiday Food Truck Festival gives visitors one last chance to experience the festive atmosphere created by the light displays and decorations that were installed for December Nights.
