Seas ‘n’ Greetings

The magic of the holidays meets the magic of the underwater world at Birch Aquarium during Seas ‘n’ Greetings, a month-long holiday celebration featuring SEAsonal activities for the whole family.

From December 1 to 31, Birch Aquarium  is transformed into a holiday wonderland. Deck the Hall (of Fishes) and get into the holiday spirit every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and check the schedule for special appearances by Scuba Santa as well as themed animal encounters, a scavenger hunt, and fun photo opportunities. On Saturdays and Sundays, things are even more festive with live music and two daily dive shows. The schedule changes daily, so check the calendar for details. All Seas ‘n’ Greetings activities are included with admission.

Ice skating at Poway ICE Arena

Bundle up in warm clothes and go enjoy a public skate session for all ages and skating levels at Poway Ice Arena. The whole family can do this activity together as a fun and novel way to get some exercise. There are additional public skate sessions offered Weds.-Sun. Check here for more days and times.

Garden of Lights at San Diego Botanic Garden

After the sun goes down in December, the San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas is transformed into a dazzling winter wonderland – Southern California Style! More than 125,000 sparkling lights illuminate the flora of this fantastic 37-acre urban oasis each evening for a magical holiday experience. Bring the family and enjoy the Garden at night as the lights illuminate several spectacular Garden areas.

There is no Garden of Lights on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

The 5th Annual Giving Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 24th at 6:30 p.m. at the Headquarters at Seaport Village’s courtyard. On Saturday, November 25, 2017, the Hilton San Diego Bayfront will commence its 2nd Annual Holiday by the Bay Ice Skating celebration. From November 24, 2017 to December 18, 2017, USO San Diego invites members of the community to drop off gifts for children.

Liberty Station Tree Lighting & Holiday Festivities

Gather your loved ones in Liberty Station’s North Promenade for live entertainment from 5:00pm to 6:00pm and then gaze upon the 88-foot Norfolk Pine Tree as it is lit up by a patient family of Rady Children’s Hospital at 6:15pm. Throughout the evening there will be entertainment, shopping and more throughout the neighborhood.  Shopping will be set in Central Promenade, next to the ice rink, with local vendors selling holiday goodies, gifts and more.

Global Winter Wonderland: ‘Circus of Light’

This 17-acre holiday festival makes its way to San Diego for the first time ever this season, setting up at SDCCU Stadium through Jan. 7, 2018. The family-friendly international celebration features the largest display of traditional Chinese lanterns outside of China, plus acrobatics performances, carnival rides, holiday-themed activities, games, food and shopping. The little ones can even write letters to Santa Claus and visit sections like Toyland, Candyland and the North Pole. Global Winter Wonderland will open daily at either 4:30 p.m. or 5 p.m., but is closed on some dates. Fallback Festival

A Children’s Historic Street Faire: Perfect event for children and families! Kids will experience a cross-section of what life was like before the age of television, computers and cell phones.

Celtic Choral Celebration

The Center Chorale performs its first concert of the 2017-2018 season Friday night at the Center Theater at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. The show will focus on the tunes of Scotland and Ireland, couple with bagpipes and Highland dancing. The 50-voice ensemble will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Joseph Valent and conductor Dr. Joe Stanford, a professor emeritus from Palomar College.

Boulevard Boo Parade

San Diego’s only Halloween parade, the 13th annual Boulevard Boo Parade returns to El Cajon Boulevard with ghoulish floats, vintage cars, costumes, bands and spooky surprises. The free parade starts at the intersection of El Cajon and Rolando boulevards then travels west to 60th Street. Visitors can view the procession from the south side of El Cajon Boulevard. After the parade, the College Avenue Baptist Church (4747 College Ave.) will host the free AfterBOO! Carnival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring rides, games, inflatable play structures, arts and crafts vendors, food vendors and live music.

Halloween Family Day

The free 9th annual Balboa Park Halloween Family Day gives families a safe, fun, and culturally inspired way to kick off their Halloween activities.

Over two dozen participating museums and cultural attractions will present free craft projects for kids, costume parades and contests, and other spooky surprises from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Participating museums offer free admission to children 12 and under with paying adult.

The 6th Annual HauntFest on Main is an exciting family-friendly event in Downtown El Cajon.

The event features live music on two stages featuring: Costume contests on the Main St. Stage; an expanded carnival rides and games; car show; candy challenge activities; kidz zone, face painting; performances by TNT Dancers, Arts In Motion Crew & Jr. Crew, and St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center Pumpkin Patch; craft and game booths; LED rock wall; inflatables for kids; “Ghostbusters” movies outdoors and more!

DogFest Walk ‘N’ Roll San Diego

Get ready for a tail waggin’ good time at DogFest Walk ‘n Roll San Diego, the national signature event of Canine Companions for Independence! Grab a leash and join us for lots of fun and family-friendly activities as we raise money to provide highly-trained assistance dogs for people with disabilities.
