In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, Old Town is putting on their 35th annul free fiesta — the largest Cinco de Mayo celebration north of the border. Lively music and entertainment, auto showcase, children’s activities and area, and more.

Fiesta de Reyes Cinco de Mayo Folklorico Festival

Dancers from throughout Southern California and some from as far away as Sacramento and Las Vegas have competed for the past eight years in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park at the annual Fiesta de Reyes Folklórico Competition. This year the event, to be held over the Cinco de Mayo weekend, is expanding to include dance troupes from Mexico and throughout the Western United States.

The competition is free for the public to attend and will take place in the center of Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. Children and adult performances alternate throughout the day, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 6. Live bands will take the stage in the afternoon until 9 p.m. on Saturday and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. In addition, the state park will showcase children’s activities throughout the day.

Julian Woman’s Club Wildflower Show

A wonderful spring event, the Julian Woman’s Club hosts their 91st annual Wildflower Show in the historical Town Hall in Julian in San Diego’s East County.

Cinco de Mayo Trail Run

The Cinco de Mayo Trail Race & 5K offer challenging and unique courses that will take you out on the Lake Poway Trail around the lake.

There’s a 5K, 10K and a kids race.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Balboa Park presents one of the region’s largest free Cinco de Mayo celebrations. The family-friendly fiesta includes Mexican-themed music and dance performances, colorful horseback riders, strolling mariachis, a fashion show of traditional Mexican dress, hands-on activity booths for kids, arts and crafts vendors, food trucks, and more! The event culminates with a 5 p.m. concert in Spreckels Organ Pavilion featuring crowd-favorite Jarabe Mexicano, accompanied by the SDSU School of Music Percussion Ensemble.

24th Annual EastLake Cycle & 5K Run, and Technology & Innovation Fair

Explore majestic hills, a stunning lake and exceptional running trails along the Chula Vista Park District while participating in either the 25 Mile Road Bike Ride, the 18 Mile mountain bike ride or the 5K community run/walk.

Rhythm & Brews Music and Craft Beer Festival

The Rhythm & Brews Music and Craft Beer Festival is one unforgettable day, complete with jams from local musicians and tastes of more than 50 of the most renowned breweries from San Diego County and other vibrant craft beer regions around the country. Known as the ‘Capital of Craft’, San Diego is the birthplace of some of our industry’s most respected brewers and home to more than 130 craft breweries. From Karl Strauss to Stone Brewing, America’s finest city has been brewing up high quality beers since the late 80s. It’s all happening on May 5, 2018. VIP kicks off at 12 PM and general admission is from 1 – 4 PM.

The Inflatable Run & Festival San Diego Event

Sunday Organ Concert

Enjoy a free, hour-long organ concert Sunday at Balboa Park’s famed Spreckels Organ Pavilion. At the keys, the audience will find Raul Prieto Ramirez, the city’s newest San Diego Civic Organist and Artistic Director of the Spreckels Organ Society. Prieto Ramirez hails from Spain and, as he told NBC 7, hopes to keep the program interesting – from Bach to Queen – at the historic Spreckels Organ.

Summer Movies in the Park

Summer Movies in the Park is a series of free outdoor movie screenings in community parks and recreation centers throughout San Diego.

Movies begin at dusk, which is about 15 minutes after sunset. People are encouraged to come early for picnics and activities.

Vista BBQ Classic

The Vista BBQ Classic is an official Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned event in Historic Downtown Vista.  For the past 8 years, teams have traveled from all over the state to compete for prize money, trophies, points and bragging rights.

BBQ teams will descend on Historic Downtown Vista on Friday, July 28th, starting as early as 8AM to spend up to 24 hours seasoning, smoking, and grilling their choice cut of meats for competition day on Saturday, July 29th.  Our 2017 award-winning teams will compete for a total of $10,000 prize money, KCBS points and trophies.

Bollywood by the Sea

Stagecoach Days: Soldiers & Citizens

Old Town San Diego continues its summer “Stagecoach Days” celebration with more historical demonstrations in the plaza, in the heart of the park. On Saturday, the “Soldiers & Citizens” theme will celebrate the military’s role in San Diego, focusing on the Mexican-American War and the soldiers of many cultures that came to San Diego very early on. The day includes a chance to see historic military uniforms, weapons and hear the stories of these soldiers.

Extreme AutoFest

Extreme AutoFest, a large-scale automotive show, will boast hundreds of tricked-out show cars, SUVs, trucks, and motorcycles from around the world, all competing for cash, prizes and, of course, bragging rights on the streets. Tickets are $25 for adults and $12 for kids ages 6 to 12; kids under 5 get in free.

Christmastime is upon us, with plenty of festivities in the San Diego County area to enjoy the holiday season! There are several events happening today, Friday Dec. 2, through Sunday.

Balboa Park’s biggest event of the year returns this weekend, kicking off the holiday season with food, live music, dancing, shopping and free admission to museums. December Nights runs for two nights – Dec. 2 and Dec. 3 – from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. and 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., respectively. Museums are open and free both nights, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

2016 Chula Vista Starlight Parade

The 2016 Chula Vista Starlight Parade will take place on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 with Frosty’s Snow Hill opening at noon, followed by the parade beginning at 6 p.m.

The famous Chula Vista Starlight Parade is San Diego County’s largest nighttime parade, filled with twinkling lights, holiday décor and activities for the whole family to enjoy! From noon to 5 p.m., children can take FREE sled rides on REAL SNOW down Frosty’s Snow Hill. And the whole family can dine at Snack Alley on Park Way, or at one of the many eateries along Third Avenue.

Queen Bee Market

The urban-style handmade market Queen Bee is hosting their largest event of the holiday season this weekend. Stop by the industrial warehouse to browse through more than 85 local and national vendors. Attendees will be able to shop vintage and homemade products as they listen to live music.

Holiday Tree Lighting and Winter Wonderland Festival

Every year, the Center brings the North Pole to the heart of Escondido. Children will have the chance to frolic in real snow, decorate their very own Christmas cookies and even rendezvous with live reindeer!

The highlight for kids is, of course, Santa Claus himself, but there will also be a number of holiday-themed entertainers—from carolers, to stilt walkers, to hula dancers—for all ages to enjoy. Food and drink will be available to warm your hands and hearts, and a number of local businesses will be displaying their wares for your holiday shopping needs.
